Perthshire politicians congratulate Fountain Bar & Restaurant
Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart, and Cllr Mike Williamson (SNP) have today congratulated Fountain Bar & Restaurant on being named “Greene King Pub Hero of the Year” at the Great British Pub Awards.
The awards, which took place last night via an online stream, featured a variety of categories aimed at showcasing the UK’s best pubs. Fountain Bar’s award was in recognition of the Feldy-Roo food delivery service, which operated from their premises and which has provided meals to the socially isolated and vulnerable during lockdown.
Commenting, Mr Swinney said:
“I am delighted to learn of the Fountain Bar’s success, and cannot think of a more fitting recipient of this award.
“The efforts of Feldy-Roo over the past few months have been a real bright spot during what has been a dark time for us all. It is only right that their sense of community spirit and selflessness was recognised on a wider scale, and I hope that the entire team are enjoying this richly-deserved victory.”
Mr Wishart added:
“I am absolutely thrilled, but not surprised, that the team at the Fountain Bar & Restaurant have been awarded Pub Hero 2020 at the Great British Pub Awards. The work that the team at the Fountain have been doing to coordinate the Feldy-Roo project has been absolutely amazing and they totally deserve this recognition. I pay tribute to every business and volunteer who was part of the Feldy-roo project, but the team at the Fountain should very much enjoy their moment in the limelight. The work they did will not be forgotten.”
Cllr Williamson added:
“The news of the Fountain Bar’s win is hugely welcome, and will be a lift for the whole community. Feldy-Roo managed to provide a vital service over a huge geographical area during lockdown. This service required the organising of a huge team of volunteers and extensive fund raising. Everyone who was involved should be proud of this recognition of their achievement.”
