Publised date : 10 Sep 2019

Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, and Cllr. Mike Williamson (SNP) have met with key stakeholders to discuss future plans for Killiecrankie Visitor Centre.

The meeting, which was attended by members of Killiecrankie Community Council, the National Trust for Scotland and visitor centre staff, presented an opportunity to discuss future opportunities and challenges for the centre, as well as ways to maximise potential commercial gains.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“This was a productive meeting, and I am pleased with the level of engagement displayed by all stakeholders.

“The tone of the meeting was positive, highlighting the important role that the Killiecrankie Visitor Centre plays in promoting local history and re-affirming our commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the facility.

“Going forward, I will work with those involved to ensure that the visitor centre can continue to provide an excellent service to those visiting Killiecrankie.”

Cllr. Williamson added:

“Killiecrankie Visitor Centre is a vital local resource and source of information for tourists. In addition, it is a significant employer within the area.

“To that end, it is important that we continue to support the facility and its staff, in order to allow it to continue to provide a quality, sustainable service.

“I know first-hand how important this facility is to the area and to Highland Perthshire as a whole, and I will continue to engage with key stakeholders going forward.”
