Swinney and Wishart welcome Lottery funding

Publised date : 05 Mar 2019

Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, and Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart, have today welcomed news that three organisations within their constituencies have been successful in applying for National Lottery funding.

The groups – Perthshire Pride, St Madoes and Kinfauns Church of Scotland and Kirkmichael Social & Recreation Hall, have secured total funding of £28,750 after applying to the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“I am delighted that these worthwhile groups are to receive funding. Each of these organisations play an important role within the wider Perthshire community, and it is right that their good work is recognised in the form of additional funding. Cash injections of this size are hugely significant for local groups, and I am sure that the money will be put to good use.

“I would also encourage any eligible groups in the Perthshire area to consider applying for National Lottery funding.”

Mr Wishart added:

“I am really pleased that these groups in my constituency have secured funding from the National Lottery. Historically groups in Perthshire have been very successful in getting funding this way and I would encourage anyone who is involved with local groups to consider making an application.

“Securing funding from an organisation like the National Lottery can often open up other streams of revenue which will often consider match-funding projects.”

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland gives groups a chance to apply for a National Lottery grant of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that aim to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need. National Lottery Awards for All Scotland awards grants to community, arts and sports groups on behalf of Big Lottery Fund Scotland, Creative Scotland and sportscotland.
