Swinney and Wishart welcome National Lottery funding
Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, and Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart, have today welcomed news that two organisations within their constituencies have been successful in applying for National Lottery funding.
The groups – the Blairgowrie and Rattray Illuminations Committee (£9,920) and the Glenshee Tourist Association (£1,780), will use the funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland to purchase new Christmas light displays and to host a community Bonfire Night respectively.
Commenting, Mr Swinney said:
“I am delighted to learn of the extra funding that will be benefit organisations within my constituency. I am sure that these groups will put the money to good use, and I look forward to seeing the benefits for local communities in the months and years to come.
“Over the course of the pandemic, we have all witnessed the profoundly positive impact that community organisations can have on the morale of local communities. To that end, I would encourage any eligible groups in the Perthshire area to consider applying for National Lottery funding.”
Mr Wishart added:
“I am delighted to hear that two groups in my constituency have been named as recipients of the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland: Blairgowrie and Rattray Illuminations Committee and Glenshee Tourist Association.
"There is a fantastic sense of community spirit in these areas already, and the amenities that this money will provide will only strengthen that this festive season.”
