New Safer Community Warden Service to launch on 4 November

Perthshire North MSP, John Swinney, will officially open the new Police, Fire and Wardens Service facility in Aberfeldy, this Friday (4 November).

The new facility, which will be home to the town’s new Safer Communities Warden as well as the Police and Fire services, will be situated next to the town hall and will be a one-stop shop for people to go to with any problems in the local community. The work of the brand new Warden – joint-funded by the local community council and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service – will be undertaken by Norma Carr.

Commenting ahead of his visit, Mr Swinney said:

“I am delighted to be taking part in the launch of this new service in Aberfeldy and to be opening the new shared facility.

“Aberfeldy is a wonderful place but, like anywhere else, can experience problems. The introduction of a brand new Safer Communities Warden is a very interesting idea and one that I hope the community will take to. Of course there are Community Wardens in position throughout the country, but the remit of Aberfeldy’s new Warden could make it a very important position in the community.

“I know that a number of people have worked very hard to see this become a reality and I wish Norma, in particular, the very best for her initial two years in her new post as Safer Communities Warden.”
