Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, has attended an MS Society Scotland event held at the Scottish Parliament. 

The event, which coincided with Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week, sought to highlight the important research being undertaken by MS Society Scotland as they work to develop better treatments for those suffering from the disease.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said: 

“MS Society Scotland are at the forefront of the fight against MS, championing crucial research and providing support to those affected by this cruel disease.

“With over 11,000 people across Scotland currently battling MS, it is vital that we fully support any and all efforts to improve the quality of care and treatment available to patients.

“Accordingly, I am proud to back the important work of MS Society Scotland, and I pay tribute to their tireless efforts to combat this illness.”

“This MS Awareness Week we are highlighting the importance of MS research. 

“For more than 11,000 people in Scotland, living with MS is a daily reality. This is why the MS Society is driving cutting-edge research into more – and better - treatments to ultimately stop MS. 

“By contributing and joining a global group of fundraisers people can help us find new treatments for people living with the often painful and exhausting condition.”
