Swinney to visit historic battlefield
Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, will today visit Killiecrankie Battlefield.
Mr Swinney will meet with James Rattray, chairman of the Soldiers of Killiecrankie group, for a personal tour of the battlefield.
The visit comes ahead of the Soldiers of Killiecrankie two-day event this summer, where members of the public will be able to witness battle re-enactments, dress in traditional costumes from the period and enjoy market stalls.
Commenting, Mr Swinney said:
“I am delighted to visit Killiecrankie Battlefield, and to receive a personal tour from James Rattray – one of the foremost experts on the history of this particular battle.
“The Battle of Killiecrankie is one of the most famous in Scottish history, and it is only right that its memory is kept alive. I would therefore encourage my constituents – and those from even further afield – to visit the Soldiers of Killiecrankie two-day event this summer.”
The Soldiers of Killiecrankie event will take place from 28-29th July from 11am-5pm each day. Tickets are priced at £7 for adults, £6 for concessions, £3 for children with children under five entering for free. Family tickets and discount passes are also available.
