Press Release

Swinney welcomes HEEPS equity loan pilot extension

Publised date : 05 Jun 2018

Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, has today welcomed news that the Home Energy Efficiency Programme Scotland (HEEPS) equity loan pilot has been extended until 31st March 2019.

The Scottish Government scheme, which was originally piloted in three local areas including Perth and Kinross, allows homeowners on low incomes to borrow up to £40,000 for energy efficiency improvements and essential repairs, including the installation of a new boiler, double glazing or repairs to reduce heat loss – which will be repaid when they sell their home or transfer ownership.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“I enthusiastically welcome the extension of this pilot scheme, which is great news for the people of Perthshire.

““The HEEPS equity loan pilot is yet another clear indication of the Scottish Government’s commitment to supporting those on low incomes, and to tackling rising energy costs.

“This worthwhile scheme has already helped many of my constituents to improve their home’s overall energy efficiency, thereby lowering bills. I would therefore encourage anyone within Perthshire who is eligible for the HEEPS pilot to consider applying for the scheme.”
