DISCOVER BLAIRGOWRIE TAKES TOWN TO NEXT LEVEL

Publised date : 24 Mar 2015

John Swinney, MSP for Perthshire North, and Pete Wishart, MP for Perth & North Perthshire, have together welcomed the launch of www.discoverblairgowrie.co.uk, a new website that combines information for tourists together with local news and events for residents.

The launch of the website will coincide with a TV commercial on STV aimed at promoting the town as the perfect day trip location for a considerable portion of Scotland’s population.

The new web presence will act as a one-stop-shop for both tourists and residents and users can even sign up to the ‘Discover Blairgowrie Newsletter’, which will help keep people up to date with news and events in Perthshire’s largest town.

Commenting, John Swinney said:

“I have been sighted on this enterprise for some time and I’m very pleased to see it now get off the ground. This development is a direct result of our hugely capable local business community pushing their business and their town into wider markets.

“Being based in Blairgowrie I know first-hand how hard businesses and their staff work to maintain Blairgowrie as the buzzing retail and hospitality centre that it is. This vibrancy doesn’t just happen and we should all recognise the achievements of our local traders.”

Pete Wishart MP added:

“This is a great development for Blairgowrie and helps to show case perfectly the quality and range of first class businesses we have here in the town.

“I believe this new website has the potential to increase tourist revenue while also being a useful resource for locals and I extend my warm congratulation to those who had the vision for this project and all who helped get it off to a flying start.”
