Swinney and Wishart congratulate Heartland FM
Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, and Perth and North Perthshire MP, Mr Pete Wishart, have congratulated Pitlochry-based radio station Heartland FM on their latest triumph at the Community Radio Awards.
Heartland FM won the Silver Award for Station of the Year for the second year in a row. Additionally, they were the only Scottish station to be nominated in this category.
Commenting, Mr Swinney said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for all those involved with Heartland FM.
“To win for the second year in a row is a testament to the consistency of their programming, and speaks to their continued desire to provide a substantive, high-quality service to the local community.
“Local radio plays a vital role in keeping the public informed on local issues and providing a platform for individuals and causes in the local community. It is an invaluable resource, and we are very fortunate to have a station of Heartland FM’s calibre operating within Perthshire.
“I extend my congratulations to the entire team at Heartland FM and I look forward to their continued success in the years ahead.”

“I have tabled an Early Day Motion to congratulate Heartland FM on winning the Silver award in the prestigious 'Station of the Year' category for the second year in a row at the 2022 Community Radio Awards.
“This award is made even more special this year with Heartland FM celebrating its 30th anniversary, making it the longest running community-owned radio station in the UK.
“Heartland FM continues to provide an excellent radio service to residents in Highland Perthshire and I congratulate everyone involved in this fantastic achievement.”
