Swinney arranges A9 meeting

Publised date : 31 Oct 2022

Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, has today led a meeting between Transport Scotland officials and local residents from the Dunkeld area.

The meeting, which sought to address specific safety concerns raised by the local community, was arranged by Mr Swinney, who has been in close dialogue with local A9 community groups over a number of years.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“I am grateful to all residents who attended this meeting, and to Transport Scotland for engaging with the local community.

“It was particularly useful for Transport Scotland to hear first-hand the concerns of locals, and I am pleased that interim solutions have been put forward to address the safety issues that were highlighted.

“The dualling of the A9 remains an ambitious and complex project. At a cost of over £3bn, it will significantly improve road safety whilst unlocking economic opportunities for the Highlands. Within my constituency, we have already seen the benefits of the dualling process, and I look forward to this continuing in the years ahead.”
