Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, will today be given a tour of Kinclaven Bluebell Wood by Carol Evans, Director of Woodland Trust Scotland.

Kinclaven Bluebell Wood, which comprises 204 acres of woods and grassland, was purchased by Woodland Trust Scotland last year thanks to a financial gift from a long term supporter. The wood is home to a variety of wildlife, including red squirrel and stoat, and was said to have sheltered William Wallace and his army.

Mr Swinney, who has been a significant supporter of Woodland Trust Scotland’s attempt to purchase the wood, will visit at an exciting time for the area. His visit coincides with the completion of a new car park in order to handle increased visitor numbers. Woodland Trust Scotland have also undertaken ambitious plans to reforest grassland within the wood that was cleared of trees in the 1940s and 50s,

“Their ambitious plans to improve an iconic Perthshire location are heartening, and I am confident that Kinclaven Bluebell Wood’s future is in good hands

“The wood is truly stunning – especially so during the summer months – and as such I would encourage everyone to visit this beautiful area.”
